PROJECT OVERVIEW
What is Space Craft?
Space Craft is a mobile app and virtual reality tool. that helps event planners, event host and event clients. find suitable event centres and give them the opportunity to craft and plan their events to suit their needs.
Problem
The pandemic has reshaped our approach to interior design, with a growing reliance on E-design due to limited access to event spaces and materials. However, existing E-design tools often lack user-friendliness and realism. This presents a challenge in effectively planning and furnishing event spaces.
Goals
To help users easily visualise and plan the layout of event centres to maximise productivity.
To help minimise the time spent searching for suitable event centres.
USER RESEARCH
User Interviews
In preparation for the interviews I prepared some questions that I planned to ask stakeholders. I did interviews with Event planner, event decorators, and property agents. Recording the time, date and questions has well during the interviews.
Design for Empathy
From the insight gathered from my potential users I worked on personas, user journeys, story boards and user flows. In order for me empathise with the users and make design decisions that are tailored to their needs.
Impact Feasibility Matrix: Prioritising Features for Maximum Value
To ensure Space Craft delivers the most value to its users while maintaining simplicity and usability, I employed an impact feasibility matrix.
This tool helped us prioritise features based on their potential impact and feasibility, ensuring we focused on the most beneficial and achievable enhancements.
Insights from XR Festival Belfast
Attending the XR Festival in Belfast provided valuable insights for developing Space Craft. I experienced "Buried in the Rock," an immersive VR exploration of Tullyard cave, which highlighted the potential of VR for realistic event space previews. "Life Cycles" demonstrated the engaging power of interactive elements like hand tracking. These experiences informed Space Craft's VR Environment feature, ensuring it is both captivating and user-friendly. The festival reinforced the importance of integrating advanced VR technologies to create an engaging and intuitive design tool for event planning.
Planing and Interior for edit screens
The architectural Plan I used for the design I explored a new design tool called Rayon Design a architectural and interior design tool for drawing floor plans.
The presentation drawing was the vital part for this project, which I added the furnitures such as tables, carpet, WC, sinks, office desk and I drew some and designed in illustrator.

Solution
AI property agent: users can summarise what they want or how they want their wedding to look like then the AI agent will help provide event centres based on the users narration just like a human property agent.
Project Editor: users can design and plan events to suit what ever they want to use it for. with a comprehensive interior design library consisting of furnitures they can add to their design.
Event Estimator: users can make use of a calculator feature to see how much they have spent so far on interiors in order for them to maintain budget.
Order tracking: Users can track the interiors they rented so has to be sure it got to the event centre before the event.
VR Environment: while designing the space users can preview all the changes they make to be sure of what they are doing.
Catalogue: users can get a comprehensive list of all the interiors and also send it to the event decorator to carry out the designs
Designing for Virtual Reality and Mobile devices
For my Virtual reality design I used figma and draft XR for viewing my prototype. The major feature for the virtual reality product was to give users the opportunity to see changes they have made to their projects.
The mobile will be used to make quick changes when the Virtual reality can not be access either the user is in a car or somewhere they wouldn’t be comfortable using the VR.

Designing a venue for an event
Users can design and plan events to suit what ever they want to use it for. with a comprehensive interior design library consisting of furnitures they can add to their design. Users can share the design, add collaborators, reduce number of seats, change sitting formation or arrangement, change colour of furnitures and access other interiors such has chairs, tables, flooring, decorations and they can also calculate how much they have spent so far in order not to go above budget.
Centralised Dashboard for Seamless Event Management
To enhance the user experience, I developed a centralised dashboard for Space Craft, providing a unified platform to streamline and simplify all aspects of event planning and coordination.
This feature integrates venue selection, design tools, budget tracking, and real-time updates into one accessible interface, ensuring users can manage their events efficiently and effectively.

Implementing Designs
After arranging the furniture for their event space, users can send a detailed catalogue to the event decorator for implementation. This catalogue includes descriptions of the furniture, materials, costs, and colour details, along with a button to access all dimensions of the event centre, ensuring accurate implementation of the design.
Order Management and Payment Tracking
Users can easily view and manage their orders, access invoices, make payments, and review receipts for both past and current orders. This feature ensures transparency and simplifies financial tracking for event planning.
Virtual Reality Prototype
While working on the Space Craft VR prototype, I encountered a number of technical limitations that shaped my design process. Prototyping in Draft XR came with its own constraints—components weren’t fully supported at the time, and frames couldn’t be grouped effectively within Figma, which made organising design assets more time-consuming. I also had to navigate colour accessibility challenges, ensuring sufficient contrast while balancing the immersive aesthetics of the VR experience.
Despite these hurdles, adapting to these limitations helped me grow as a designer. It pushed me to think creatively, stay flexible, and find workarounds that still delivered a functional and user-centered experience. Ultimately, it was a great learning curve that sharpened both my technical and problem-solving skills when it comes to VR prototyping
Idea generation for branding
started with writing a brief for the space craft project, then I used words from the brief to build a mind map to give me ideas of combinations I can work on for my logo design.
For the construction of the icon, I took out a floor plan and I wanted to use one of the spaces to come up with an Icon but it didn’t turn out well so I had to use Grid lines to archives what I wanted which turned out well.
Launch Strategy
I also worked on a Launch strategy. The launch strategy for Space Craft is designed to maximise visibility, user engagement, and market penetration. I categorised my strategy into three parts which are ; pre launch strategy, Launch and post launch strategy.
I explored different ideas under this strategies such has; pop-up ads on event centre websites, app store, virtual reality product, promotional website, environmental ads, exhibition, influencers, social media post, merchandise and collaboration with event centres.
EVALUATION
User testing and Iteration
For my user testing I joined interior design, event decorators communities then got them to test the product I also talked to people who where about to get married since they are one of the most important potential users of the product.
Takeaway
Learned to manage complexities in creating mobile prototypes, emphasizing the importance of iterative design and thorough testing.
Conducted insightful interviews with event decorators, planners, interior designers, and soon-to-be brides to refine the project’s focus and ensure it met user needs effectively.
Utilised Rayon Design for creating essential floor plans and Draft XR for developing immersive VR experiences, enhancing user interaction despite some technical challenges.
Gained valuable experience in designing for VR, understanding the limitations and possibilities of Draft XR, which will benefit future projects.
